Doppler ultrasound is a medical imaging technique which is used to provide visualization of the blood flow, using colour processing to add colour to the image so that a doctor can clearly see what is happening inside the body. It helps doctors to evaluate blood flow through major arteries and veins, such as those of the arms, legs, and neck. It can show blocked or reduced flow of blood through narrow areas in the major arteries of the neck that could cause a stroke camera.gif. It also can reveal blood clots in leg veins (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT) that could break loose and block blood flow camera.gif to the lungs (pulmonary embolism). During pregnancy, Doppler ultrasound may be used to look at blood flow in an unborn baby (fetus) to check the health of the fetus.

ECHOCARDIOGRAM

An echocardiogram (also called an echo) is a type of ultrasound test that uses high-pitched sound waves that are sent through a device called a transducer. The device picks up echoes of the sound waves as they bounce off the different parts of your heart. These echoes are turned into moving pictures of your heart that can be seen on a video screen.
