A coronary care unit (CCU) is a hospital ward specialized in the care of patients with heart attacks, unstable angina, cardiac dysrhythmia and (in practice) various other cardiac conditions that require continuous monitoring and treatment. The CCU staff cares for patients with acute myocardial infarction and complications including cardiogenic shock, post-infarction angina and congestive heart failure. We also care for many other critically ill patients suffering from severe cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease and life-threatening arrhythmias.
